Prague drinks wine

The first year of Prague drinks wine/ Praha pije víno – festival of Authentic wines from the region of former Austrian-Hungarian Empire - takes place on 6th & 7th of June 2014 at the beautiful Troja Chateau´s wine vault and in its gardens.

Authentic wines are wines produced in a traditional way, in accordance with nature, without using unnecessary technological intervention or added substances, winemakers usually apply rules of organic production. The festival will be a unique gathering of more than forty winemakers from Central Europe and it will be possible to taste more than 400 different wines produced by small family wineries representing a number of wine regions of Austria, Hungary, Moravia, Slovenia, Slovakia and Italy. The festival would like to continue the tradition of similar gatherings of old times, when the winemakers of the former Habsburg Empire used to organize regularly such events before World War One. The title of the festival "Prague drinks wine" is not coincidental. In the past, the city used to be surrounded by vineyards while only few were preserved till our times. The festival is organized by our favorite Veltlin wine bar, where we love to go to explore new winemakers and new tastes. Besides wines you will have a chance to taste delicatessen and food from Sklizeno or Krystal Mozaika Bistro, or have a cup of coffee or tea from EMA Espresso Bar and Tea Mountain. One day ticket costs 550 CZK, two days ticket 950 CZK, the price includes catalogues and open degustation at the festival. You can get to Troja Chateaux easily by public transportation, or even by boat or steamer. The cruise starts in the centre, lasts approximately 75 minutes and offers a different view on the city. Before or after wine tasting, you can also visit Prague ZOO that is just next to the Chateaux.
