Central Prague - Karlin

Explore Karlin and its gastronomic scene

Karlin has seen more major changes than any other part of Prague, especially in the field of gastronomy. During our Prague food tour in Karlin, we will try the traditional Czech snack “chlebicek”, we will stop at a local farmers shop to show you that great cheese and sausages do not just come from Italy or France, and we will spend some time relaxing at our popular restaurants tasting several Czech popular specialties and dishes such as pork crackling spread, "tlacenka" or homemade “Talian” sausage, pork schnitzel and fried cheese. By Czechs loved seasonal fruit dumplings simply have to be served too. We will also take a small detour to our neighbors and taste a sample of Slovak cuisine. All will be washed down with a “golden” drink from Czech & Slovak breweries. Everything will be accompanied by Czech Slivovitz and Becherovka and our food tour will end at an authentic wine bar with a selection of wines from regions that used to be a part of the former Austro-Hungarian Empire.

Karlin

neighborhood that used to be best avoided after sunset, has become an attractive place to live. The turning point in Karlin´s history was the flooding in 2002, when a large number of the houses in Karlin were damaged or destroyed. Karlin has been rebuilt and redeveloped ever since. Many of the houses have been reconstructed or newly built. Along with this redevelopment, the gastronomical scene has also seen a significant boom. In recent years there have appeared many new small shops with local produce, cozy family bistros, trendy restaurants and stylish bars. At weekends, when farmers fill the local square with their stalls and the locals hit the streets, Karlin has the atmosphere of a village in the city, an impression that is enhanced by its small size and the absence of tourists.

The Karlin Prague food tour starts at 3.30 p.m. and lasts approximately 4 hrs.

The tour runs regardless of the weather. If rain is forecast, do not forget an umbrella or a good raincoat.

The tour includes some walking and Prague is not exactly friendly to high heels, so please make sure you wear comfortable shoes.
